Elva Larsen Werner 1928 - 2005

In Loving Memory

Elva Larsen Werner beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt died on December 9, 2005 at age 77 from complications due to pneumonia and Alzheimer’s Disease.

Elva began her life on June 25, 1928. She was born to Clifton Larsen and Charlotte Beardall Larsen in Benjamin, Utah. Her family moved to Salt Lake City, UT where she grew up. She lost her mother at age 9 and had a difficult childhood. She graduated from South High School.

She married Glen Frederick Werner on August 13, 1947 in the Salt Lake Temple. She and Glen moved to California. After Glen finished school they moved back to Salt Lake City and finally settled in Murray, Utah where she raised three daughters.

Elva’s career was that of a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She excelled in all domestic skills. She was an amazing cook and seamstress. She adored her family and loved children. She devoutly worked in many church positions such as Primary President and Counselor in the Relief Society. She also was a 4-H Leader and taught her 4-H Girls how to cook and sew. Later, she was employed as a Crossing Guard and a Teacher’s Aide for the Murray School District. In addition, Elva was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She and her husband traveled extensively across the USA, Canada, and Mexico.

Elva was diagnosed with Alzheimers Disease in 1994 and battled with the ailment for eleven more years. Always a loving, hard-working, and caring person, her last words were "I love you, too. I want to go home to take care of my family."

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Lewis Dean and Alvin Frances Larsen; and her sister, Leora Larsen Paskett. She is survived by her husband and loving caregiver, Glen Werner; and her three daughters, Leslie (Mike) Bell; Charlotte (Kurt) Ovard; and Judy (Larry) Sorensen; her five grandchildren; two great- grandchildren; her aunt, Nellie Larsen; her brothers, Marvin and Charles Larsen; and her sister, Emma Jean Peaden.

Family and friends may visit at a viewing on Wednesday evening, December 14, 2005, 6pm until 8pm at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy, Utah. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2005 at 12 Noon following a one hour viewing at 11:00am at Hillcrest Ward, 435 East 5600 South in Murray. Interment will follow at Murray City Cemetery.

Her Children would like to express their apprciation to their father, Glen, for his tireless love, care, patience and devotion to their mother; to Dini Droguett of the Alzheimer's Association; and to the Daycare Staff of Neighborhood House for their support. with your bright and cheery smile?
And you brighten every corner
when you come too stay awhile,

You are like a gentle rainstorm
leaving freshness in the air.
You and spring-time go together
you are a very welcome pair.

Please don't change as you grow older
be the same sweet joyful gal,

Making life a little better

But there's always disappointments
fears and sorrows come along.
Often when they're least expected
life can't always be a song.

Trust in God and He will guide you
through your lifetime day by day,

in His own eternal way.

God gave you goodly parents
and it shows in all you do,
So just keep on smiling Elva
let the sun keep shining through.

When this life becomes a memory
and all things are made anew,
